About Château de Haute Serre

Georges Vigouroux brought Château de Haut-Serre back to life after Phylloxera had devasted it in the 1970s. The Estate covers 148 acres of high-elevation clay-rich soils. In Quercy, everything precious is black, including the local wine. Made famous by Eleanor of Aquitaine in the Middle Ages, it became known as “the black wine of Cahors.” This “black wine” has flowed through the Vigouroux family’s veins for four generations.
